Who Can Apply for a Retrial?
Retrial is another attempt at the practical driving test. Kalanki’s official eDLVRS information lists this service for applicants who fail a new-license trial or a category-addition trial.
Check your recorded result first. If you failed the written examination, ask about the written-test reapplication process rather than selecting a practical retrial. If your result says Absent, check whether the missed test has already used one of your attempts.
What You Need Before Applying
Keep these items ready:
- Application ID or reference number.
- Existing admit card.
- Previous trial date and result.
- Citizenship certificate or identification requested by the office.
- Registered mobile number and access to the verification channel.
- Previous payment receipts.
If the trial was for category addition, keep your existing driving license ready too.

How to Fill the Retrial Form Online
Follow these steps where your office offers online retrial registration. The fields and booking options may differ between portals.
Step 1Open Your Original Application Portal
Return to the provincial portal handling your application. Open the driving license section and look for Retrial, Re-examination or पुनः परीक्षा.
Use the official link provided by your transport office. Bagmati applicants can start from the provincial eDLVRS portal.
Step 2Find Your Application
Enter the details requested by the retrial form. Complete OTP verification if prompted.
Check your name, vehicle category, office and previous test record. If the failed result has not been updated, ask the office to check it before creating another application.
Step 3Submit the Retrial Request
Review the information and submit the request.
If the portal says you are not eligible, save the message or take a screenshot. Ask the office to check your application validity and remaining attempts.
Step 4Pay the Required Fee
Follow the payment instructions attached to your retrial request. If the portal generates a voucher, check the amount, service and expiry before paying. Save the receipt or transaction reference.
Payment alone does not confirm your test date. Complete the booking or follow the office’s examination notice.
Step 5Confirm Your Retrial Date
Choose an available slot if the portal offers date selection. Save the confirmation and download a new admit card if one is issued.
If dates are assigned through notices, find your application in the retrial list. Check the category, centre and reporting time. Use your existing admit card where the office tells you to do so.
What If There Is No Online Retrial Option?
Your office may register retrials at the counter. Check its registration days before visiting.
Take your application details, admit card, identification and payment records. For example, Kaski’s published FAQ tells applicants to register and pay for retrial on Fridays. Your office may follow a different schedule.
Driving License Retrial Fees in Nepal
Kalanki’s published service instructions list NPR 500 for each retrial registration. Confirm the current amount with your office before paying. This is an office-specific published amount.
You may also need to pay separately for the trial vehicle or test centre.
| Payment | What to check |
|---|---|
| Government retrial fee | Correct application, service and amount |
| Vehicle or trial-centre charge | Whether it is separate from registration |
| Payment-service charge | Any extra amount shown before confirming |
Do not use the first-trial payment amount as the retrial fee. Check the fee for the service you are applying for.
How Many Retrial Attempts Are Allowed?
Kalanki’s published instructions allow two further practical attempts after the first failure, making three attempts in total. The stated window is 18 months from passing the written examination.
The office also gives a next-day registration option between 2 PM and 4 PM for applicants seeking an immediate retrial. This is an office-registration instruction, not a guarantee that the next test will happen that day.
Check your own application deadline. Older official FAQs still mention a 90-day window. Confirm the applicable rule with your issuing office. Do not assume you have three additional attempts.
If you are applying after a category-addition failure, also confirm how the deadline applies to your record.
How to Check Your Retrial Date and Test Centre
Check your application account, booking confirmation or the office’s official examination notice. Match your Application ID and name, vehicle category, examination date, trial centre and reporting time.
Check whether the date is in BS or AD. Your payment date and trial date may be different.
What Happens If You Miss the Retrial?
Contact your office as soon as possible and ask how the missed examination affects your remaining attempts.
Kalanki’s examination notice states that absence is treated as failure and counts as a used opportunity. Do not assume you can move the booking to another day without approval.
If all attempts are used or the application deadline has passed, ask which stages you need to complete again.
Retrial Registration Problems and Solutions
| Problem | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Retrial option is missing | Check whether your office uses counter registration |
| Failed result is not showing | Ask the examination office to check the recorded result |
| Application is not found | Recheck the Application ID and original portal |
| OTP is not arriving | Check the registered contact details and resend option |
| Payment remains pending | Save the bank reference and check before paying again |
| No date is available | Follow the next official booking or examination notice |
| Attempts show as exhausted | Ask the office to verify your attempt history |
What to Do After Your Retrial
Follow the written and trial result steps to check your result.
After passing, complete the payment and approval stages shown in your application. If you were adding a category, check that it appears correctly in the updated record.
When you are waiting for the physical card, use our license print checker to search the published records. Confirm collection with your issuing office before visiting.
